“We are pleased to offer this program to the public to help improve the health of owned animals as well as reduce pet overpopulation in our community,” said Mary Anslinger, Executive Director.  This is the first of two  Blitzes offered in 2012.  “We appreciate the kind generosity of Dr. Linda Blakeley, our vet techs, and our volunteers for making this valuable program a success,” said Anslinger.

For the safety of the animals, all cats must be brought to the Blitz in a pet carrier.  If the cat is not current on its rabies vaccine, the pet owner will be required to purchase the vaccine at an additional cost of $15.00.  Other pet services and products, such as flea products, ear cleaning, etc., will be available at the Blitz.  For more information, contact the CPHS Pet Wellness Center at (814) 943-7575.

All proceeds go to care for the homeless animals at the CPHS.

The 2012 Blair County Dog Licenses are available to purchase during open business hours.  The shelter is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.  The shelter is closed to the public on Wednesday and is open from 12:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday.  The price per license depends on whether your dog is spayed or neutered and if the owner is a senior citizen.

      Adoptable dogs (unaltered) are $85 to adopt and includes a one-year Rabies Vaccination, Parvo/Distemper/Bordatella Vaccination, Deworming, ID Tag, Adoption, and Spay/Neuter Fee for surgery performed by our veterinarian.  Altered dogs (proof required) are only $40 to adopt and includes all other items listed above for dogs.   

       Adoptable cats 1 year or older (unaltered) are only $60 to adopt and include FELV/FIV test, one-year Rabies Vaccination, FVRCP Vaccination, Deworming, Adoption, and Spay/Neuter fee for surgery performed by our veterinarian.  Adoptable cats 8 weeks to 11 months are $75 to adopt and include all items listed above for cats.  Altered cats (proof required) are FREE to adopt and include all other items listed above for cats.  Are you looking to add two cats to your family?  The CPHS offers a Buy one Get one Free for cats and kittens of the same gender only.

The Gold Wing Road Riders Association presented a check in the amount of $500.00 to the Central PA Human Society. Presenting the check were the following: Norm & Cecilia Tubo, Lyle Stoner, Nicole Bopp (CPHS Marketing Director), Arlene Miller, Randy and Deb Rupert, Jim and Diane Heffelfinger, and Michelle Carpinello.
