Celebrate our 12th annual Bikers for Barkers with us! Join us Sunday 7/8/12 for a scenic 100-mile motorcycle run through beautiful central Pennsylvania. Mulligan’s Mutts Annual Golf Outing

Picture Perfect Pet 2013 Calendar Contest Begins!

The Central Pennsylvania Humane Society is proud to announce the start of its annual Picture Perfect Pet 2013 Calendar Contest. The contest features portraits of locally-owned pets. The contest includes fundraising on behalf of the participants to have their pets featured in the calendar. Any pet owner is welcome to enter.

To participate, pet owners are encouraged to pick up information sheets and contest rules at the Central PA Humane Society Shelter located at and1837 East Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602, or click here. The contest requires entrants to either submit good quality digital photos or use a participating professional photographer. If using a participating photographer, the participants will receive two photos for $10. The photos can then be used for fundraising in support of their pet.

Twelve pet owners who raise the most money will have their pet’s photo featured as a Pet of the Month in the calendar. Participants through the years have been very creative in raising money in support of their pet, and they have raised thousands of dollars to support CPHS. The money raised from this contest is used to help the 5,000 or so homeless animals that come through our shelter doors yearly.

The contest will begin March 1, 2012, and end July 2, 2012. The calendars will go on sale in September. To sign up your pet or for more information on the contest or advertising, contact Mary Anslinger at 814-942-6900.

The Central PA Humane Society education programs are available to teachers and youth groups in Blair County free of charge. The programs can be customized to meet the needs for your group. Please print out the Presentation Request Form and submit it to the CPHS at1837 East Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602 or contact Mary Anslinger at 814-942-6900 for more information.

2012 Blair County Dog Licenses now available

The 2012 Blair County Dog Licenses are now available at the Central PA Humane Society,1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA.

The 2012 Blair County Dog Licenses are available to purchase during open business hours. The shelter is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed to the public on Wednesday and is open from 12:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The price per license depends on whether your dog is spayed or neutered and if the owner is a senior citizen.
